Hello from Tsavo!

The expedition continues......

On arriving lastWednesday at Camps International's Tsavo camp we were greeted by a group a Elephants! The camp is very remote with no phone signal! The group is bonding well with the project work very hard and tiring but rewarding.

We have constructed a fence arund a womens group project where they are improving village life by growing their own produce. We completed the fence to keep out the animals in a day! A project at a school which included digging holes to bury water tanks and finishing a concrete floor. Yesterday we mixed and spread 30 tonnes of concrete for an elephant watering hole.

It hasn't all been work! We have just complete 2 days of Safari, the highlight seeing a lioness and her 3 cubs this morning. She came right up to the safari wagons for a photo! We have also seen elephants, buffallo, giraffes and wathogs.

We move on on Thursday to the community part of the project. All are well and enjoying this fantastic experience.

We will blog again next week.

Hi George
It was great to receive the latest blog news at last. All that digging made me think of 'Holes'!I'm sure it has been all good physical preparation for the rugby season. The safari sounded amazing and we look forward to the photos. We arrived back from Italy yesterday (eventually, as ryanair cancelled all its flights to and from Pisa, so we had our own little adventure trying to get home!)and had a good time. As usual, the washing machine is now taking a battering. HAve you used your Concentrated Travel wash yet?! We're all really missing you but now the countdown has started - 10 days left! We're having bets on what you've missed the most about Blighty and home life, so give it some thought on way back as there is money at stake! By now you'll be at Muhaka Camp on another COmmunity project - and we thought about you all on your travels yesterday as we scrabbled around various departure lounges and tried to find flights! Hope you are still having 'the time of your life'! Look forward to another email if you get a chance.
Love, Mum, Dad, Doug and Anna xxx

Hi Laura,
The safari sounds amazing, the cubs must have been really cute - hope you managed to take some photos.
Sounds like you have all been working very hard on your construction projects - any blisters?
We are having a lovely time on Corfu and have been busy travelling round the island visiting different villages and beaches - very beautiful and the weather is wonderful - very hot!
Can you remember a holiday back in Minorca when dad stepped on the Savlon cream in the kitchen and it went everywhere - you remember after kicking that concrete football! Well he has now progressed to stepping on baby lizards in the kitchen - poor little dead thing (Bex and Sophie are scarred for life!). Rest assured you will be pleased to have missed this unfortunate experience!
It was lovely to read the update on the blog of what you've all been upto. We are checking it regularly.
Looking forward to seeing you soon and to hearing your stories. Continue to have an amazing experience out there Laura!
We all love and miss you lots.

Hi Jess,

Sounds like you are really getting into the local life out there in Jumboland. I have never seen a lioness with cubs before, but we did have a frog, 2 snails and a labrador in the garden the other day. I also saw another one of those sleeping badgers next to the road, but I didn't wake it up.
I am hugely impressed with your new found concreting skills. I have aready canvassed the neighbours, and have taken deposits for 3 new driveways, a patio and the new floor of a milking parlour for you to complete upon your return.
Here, the weather has gone past mere rainfall and into the realms of monsoon. Driving home up Zig Zag Hill today was more akin to white river rafting than motoring, so much so that I am thinking of buying a lifevest and paddle.
At home, Joss has just washed my new blue and green T Shirts with my white work shirts. My white work shirts are now a bright blue/green colour which I am sure will become fashionable soon.

Keep safe, love you lots.

Dad and Joss xx

Hey Jake!
Wow, from your last blog it sounds like you are having an awesome time out there!
Youth week was good, I came 3rd overall out of about 20 boats. The first few days were quite windy, one day it was gusting a force 7! (you can probably guess I spent most of that day upside down! lol) All the evenings were great fun too, alot of dancing at the fancy dress party as usual! People kept mentioning you all week, asking what you had been up to and how you are getting on! I must admit the sailing club isn't quite the same without you to do all our boats! Have some stories to make you laugh! Me and Lucy found two hot guys, but unfortunately they had to go home early! haha :P
Only a week to go now until you come home, don't worry I will make sure Mum isn't at the airport!!
Looking forward to seeing you again, hope you are not too brown (you will make me look chalky!)
Love you lots,
Sophs xxxx
